Emily McLeod is in our employee spotlight this month. Emily joined DPP as the Administrative Assistant a few years ago, and when the opportunity came to work more closely with our recruiting team, she jumped at it.
When Emily isn’t at work, she can be found near some body of water—pool, lake or ocean. Unless it’s football season, that is. Then you can be sure she’s somewhere in the crowd cheering on the USC Gamecocks.
What is your job at DPP?
I am the Recruiting Assistant here at DPP. I have several different responsibilities such as, supporting the recruiting staff with reference checking, interview preps, and debriefs, as well as the design and format of resumes.
What do you like best about your job?
What I like best about my job is that when I reformat a resume for a candidate who may not have a job right now, I try and think about how this resume has really got to rock so they can land the job that they are being submitted to.
What was the best vacation you ever had?
Best vacation would have to be when my family and I traveled around San Francisco, CA when I was a kid. We did so much while there, from ice skating to touring the beautiful bay and all that California has to offer. California was so much fun and I hope to go back and explore it all over again.
What’s in your “bucket list” of things to do in Columbia?
Run a marathon.
What’s your favorite sport or pastime?
What is your favorite season?
I love the warm weather. Summer is by far my favorite time of year. It’s the season where everyone travels and spends time with family and friends having gatherings at the beach, lake or pool.
What words of wisdom do you try to live by?
I love this quote, “Never give up. Never back down. Never lose Faith.” My parents always make sure that simple quote is always kept in mind.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
Hawaii. Who doesn’t love Hawaii? I have never been but I have seen many pictures and would absolutely love to live there.
Have you met anyone famous? Tell us about it.
When I was a kid, my parents took my siblings and me to see Dave Matthews Band. At one of their concerts, we were able to meet Dave Matthews. He was watching the opening act for the band’s concert and he came right up to my family and started talking to us, and I still listen to Dave Matthews Band to this day!
Also, my brother is the coach for the Varsity girls soccer team at AC Flora High School. One of the girls on the team has a pretty famous father. Her father is a guitar player for Hootie and the Blowfish, Mark Bryan. I see him during the soccer season and he is such a friendly guy.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
If I ever won, I would give half of it to my parents and buy a vacation house at the beach!
You can connect with Emily on LinkedIn. By the way, at the time of this posting, Emily is at a beautiful lake in North Carolina.
Each month we shine the spotlight on one of our in-house staff. We hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into the culture at DPP.
